If you are interested in learning how government works, and in sharing your thoughts and ideas with your Member of Provincial Parliament Andrea Khanjin, the Barrie-Innisfil Provincial Youth Council could be the right place for you.
The Youth Council is an opportunity for youth across the riding to provide feedback and input to MPP Khanjin on how the Ontario government can better serve them. The Youth Council will give interested young people the chance to develop their research skills, better understand how the Government of Ontario works, and understand the relationship between the government, their local representative and other community stakeholders.
Membership on the non-partisan Youth Council is open to students from Grades 9-12 living in Barrie-Innisfil with a passion for community involvement and service.
As a member of the Barrie-Innisfil Provincial Youth Council, you will:
Provide feedback to MPP Khanjin on issues facing the youth of Barrie-Innisfil from a provincial perspective;
Identify three ministries which impact youth and provide recommendations on how they can better serve young people in the riding;
Show a willingness to learn, research, and provide in-depth feedback;
Demonstrate involvement in the community via school leadership and volunteer activities; and
Get credit toward your 40 hours of community service.
Four meetings are scheduled to be held in the riding over the course of the 2019-20 school year; additional activities may also be developed depending upon interest and opportunity.
